The Katona József Library is one of the country’s most visited public libraries. It offers continuously improved, high-quality services to all age groups, tailored to the needs of its users and in accordance with professional standards. In 1996, the library opened its new three-story home. In the nearly 8,000 m² building – which has been recognized with the Pro Architektura Award – those wishing to read, study, gather information, or be entertained can easily navigate the spacious, open spaces without barriers. The library’s wide range of services in the city center is complemented by branch libraries in more distant neighborhoods that provide modern basic services and also serve as school libraries. The Home Library delivers services to those who, for health reasons, are unable to visit the institution in person. As a member of the Europe Direct network established and supported by the European Commission, our Europe Direct Bács-Kiskun office is dedicated to informing citizens about European Union issues in their native language, close to where they live.
