BLX is part of a massive new metropolitan expansion. In a massive move for regional culture, the network recently unified with libraries across the surrounding municipalities to create the Public Library Network of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area. This means a single library card grants locals seamless access to over 70 public libraries across 18 distinct municipalities surrounding the capital. Whether you want to lounge in a palace garden, browse a massive comic book archive, or just find a quiet place to escape the Lisbon heat, the BLX network is one of the city’s best-kept public treasures.
