The Milwaukee Public Library’s historic downtown Central Library is evolving; in 2010 a 30,000 sq. ft. green roof was installed including solar panels. Today, in addition to the Central Library, there are 12 neighborhood libraries (branches) each of which serves a population of about 50,000.
