Born and raised in Northwest Alaska, Seth Kantner’s debut novel, Ordinary Wolves, won a Whiting Award and was celebrated by The New York Times Book Review as a “magnificently realized story.” His other books include an earlier memoir, Shopping for Porcupine, a collection of essays, Swallowed by the Great Land, and a children’s book, Pup and Pokey. A Thousand Trails Home is the culmination of more than 10 years of writing and 30 years of wildlife photography. A commercial fisherman, Kantner divides his time between Paungaqtaurgruk, where he was born, and Kotzebue, where his family lives.
