Patrick Evans is the author of six novels, including Bluffworld (2021) and Gifted (2010), which re-imagines the 1955 relationship between New Zealand writers Janet Frame and Frank Sargeson. His nonfiction work includes the funniest – very well, the only funny – study of New Zealand writing ever published, The Penguin History of New Zealand Literature (1990). He taught New Zealand literature and creative writing at the University of Canterbury until 2016.
