The Maria da Conceição Moreira Salles Demonstrative Library, also known as BDB, a reference to its previous name, is a federal public library created in 1970, located in the capital of Brazil, in Brasília, Distrito Federal. In the current structure of the Special Secretariat of Culture (City) of the Ministry of Tourism Ministry, according to the Decree is a Coordination subordinate directly to the General Coordination of the National System of Public Librarys (CGSNBP), in the Department of Book, Reading, Literature and Libras (DLLLB), of the Secretariat of Creative Economy and Cultural Diversity (SECDEC), where it serves as a reference of public library.

The Maria Demonstrative Library of Conceição Moreira Salles-BDB has the mission of being a library of experimentation and experience of new paradigms of public library, of standardization and dissemination of good practices, always seeking to be avant-garde, being an important instrument to promote the democratization of access to reading, the formation of new readers, the promotion of Brazilian literature and, also contributing to the training of new professionals of libraries.
