The Signature of All Things is everything I like in historical fiction. Well written and hard to forget. It took me from early 19th century Philadelphia to the Pacific Islands. And it has an extra “hook” which is that the main female character is a naturalist (like Darwin) and the main character actually meets Darwin and other real people in the field of botany/biology as and added perk.
