ABOUT
THE BOOK

V expects a tug-of-war romance with the charming yet withholding LEX to cure her early-2000s ennui, but her family’s chaos threatens to derail her overdue adulthood. This fast-paced swirl of memory and action hurtles toward a surprisingly hopeful end. Sexy, with razor-sharp humor and heart-tugging romance, STILL ALIVE is a novel to fall into, in love with, and find yourself changed. With heady pacing, a recursive structure, and sharp prose, STILL ALIVE renders the much-maligned adult millennial experience with affection and profundity. In this story, as in life, there’s no cure for living.

NOMINATING LIBRARY COMMENTS

“This is solidly one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. Pemberton is magic with words. She explores what it means to be an elder Millennial queer in a world that offers only disappointments. There are certainly many coming-of-age books, but Pemberton captures moments in time 15 to 20 years ago that speak to specifically today. She is a voice of her generation.”
