Ana Veciana-Suarez is the author of several books, including “Dulcinea,” a historical novel that reimagines the woman who inspired Miguel Cervantes. and a Historical Novel Society Editors’ Choice as well as a 2023 Best Books in Latinx in Publishing. Her middle grade novel “Flight to Freedom” was an Americas Award for Children’s Literature Commended Title and a Sunshine State Young Reader’s Award selection. She’s also the author of “Birthday Parties in Heaven: Thoughts on Life, Love, Grief, and Other Matters of the Heart,” a collection of essays. Her novel, “The Chin Kiss King,” was nominated for the prestigious IMPAC Award, an international competition in Dublin. Two of her nonfiction books about the Hispanic media were published by The Media Institute, a think tank in Washington D.C. Further, her commentary has been included in several anthologies and she has earned a National Headliner, a Clarion Award, a Green Eyeshade and two Sunshine State Awards. Veciana-Suarez has also received a CINTAS Fellowship and an Individual Artist Fellowship Award from the state of Florida for fiction writing. She lives in Miami with her husband.
