With her work she won the Golden Owl, the LIBRIS Woutertje Pieterse Prize, twice a Zilveren Griffel, twice the Golden Kiss,…. Her novel Vallen was made into a film. For Looking in the sun, she received the triennial Culture Prize of the Flemish Community, which is the former State Prize for Literature. In 2022 she made her debut as a poet with the collection Krop’. In October 2024, her poetry collection Decem, ongelegenheid poems for asylum seekers was published, which received the Audience Award of the Grote Poezie Prize. Her work has been translated into twenty languages.
